Passing on our unique know-how for 150 years
The story of CGN is 150 years of history, of passion for Lake Geneva and its surrounding region, and the passing on of unique know-how in sailing and in the maintenance of our fleet. From the sailors to the artisans, from the ticket office staff to those on the phone lines or in the administration, each of us contributes, every day, to offering the best possible experience to our passengers and passing on the art de vivre found in Lake Geneva.
In addition to the various administrative departments typical of a company such as CGN, the shipyard also comprises seven workshops staffed by employees who may be assigned to either the shipyard or the vessels. Each workshop is managed by a foreman and their assistant, who coordinate the various maintenance and refurbishment tasks:
1. Zodiac Workshop
The workshop carries out the maintenance and servicing of ‘SurvitecZodiac’ liferafts. CGN is the only company in Switzerland to hold a licence to carry out this work. It is also responsible for the maintenance and servicing of self-inflating lifejackets, as well as the manufacture of new mooring lines.

The workshop creates and restores all wooden fittings. It also handles the maintenance and repair of structural elements such as the decks of the boats.
3. Metalwork workshop
The workshop carries out the maintenance and fabrication of all the metal parts of the boats.
4. Steam engineering workshop
The workshop is responsible for the maintenance of the steam engines, boilers and paddle wheels of the Belle Époque boats.
5. Painting and fitting-out workshop
The workshop carries out maintenance and refurbishment of the boats’ overall appearance (cleaning, painting, etc.).
